Hyperobjects - Orbiting the Invisible
Project type
Visual Communication Design / Academic Project
Role
Concept Creator / Visual Researcher
Keywords
Hyperobjects, Ecology, Interconnectivity, Viscosity, Systems Thinking, Atomic Metaphor, Philosophy, Temporal Scale, Wicked Problems
This visual essay interprets Timothy Morton’s theory of hyperobjects—entities so vast in time, space, and complexity that they defy full human comprehension. Examples include climate change, nuclear waste, or the internet. These objects are “viscous” (they stick to us), “nonlocal” (they're everywhere at once), and unfold across immense timescales. Through an atomic metaphor, the project illustrates how such phenomena interconnect with wicked problems like plastic pollution and water scarcity, emphasizing the invisible systems shaping our world.
